Welcome! I am Steve Pugh, the developer and owner of this site! SpWebGames.com is a site based in the UK containing free web-based games and applications, mostly in the form of Java applets. If you are having trouble getting software on this site to work, see the Help Page. BackgroundI have long been interested programming, starting in the 1980s writing simple games using the early BASIC programming languages with machines such as the Commodore VIC20, the CBM64/128, and later the Amiga. By the mid 1990s, I had moved to using PCs and was programming in Fortran and C, as well as the newer BASIC-like languages. Eventually Java came along, which impressed me enough to convert much of my software to this new language. Many of the games on this site are re-written versions of that old software. My web site has its origins as far back as 1994, when I had a few pages mainly describing my PhD research work. My PhD thesis is still available online. Over more recent years, as I learned more about Java and web development, my site has expanded to contain various games and applications that I had written. It has had its own domain, SpWebGames.com, since May 2000. Since then, I have continued to write new software when time has allowed, resulting in the website you see today!
